KETTLE WHISTLE is a collection of previously unreleased Jane's Addiction material along with newly recorded material.
Recorded between 1986 and 1997. Includes liner notes by Henry Rollins.
Jane's Addiction are one of just a handful of bands that can make songs explode into visceral madness. KETTLE WHISTLE draws upon live performances, demos, out-takes, and new tracks to confirm the band's rightful place in the alternative rock pantheon. The live cuts include Perry Farrell's legendary bantering with the crowd while the band pours out some of its most passionate music, including "Three Days," Up The Beach" and "Stop."
Much of KETTLE WHISTLE finds Jane's Addiction relapsing into its old hard-core self, with some added electronic effects. The new tracks continue in the Jane's Addiction tradition of tribal drumming and odd time signatures while Farrell's voice and Navarro's guitar beckon us to take a trip with them. Suddenly, the world erupts and electric guitar lava spews forth. Behind it all, Stephen Perkins pounds away at the drums, giving them the percussive force of bolders. KETTLE WHISTLE works as both an introduction to this groundbreaking band and an addition to the canon for hardcore Jane's Addiction fans.
